When I was still a child, I wonder how God looks like. I though God has five different forms. His genuine form is Allah and transform to Jesus for Christian, Wisnu for Hindu, and so on. Until I got my own knowledge that God is one, Allah SWT. ‘The other God’ that exists in this world is just a fake. People take the wrong concept of God. Many people around me said that if until they die they don’t change their God to Allah, they definitely will go to the hell. Of course not all Muslim will go to heaven too, but at least, the chance is bigger. After that, I never ask about God anymore. I do what Muslim people should do, sholat, fasting, and give zakat.
However, when I go to Humanistic class, the concept of God is on the air. Both the lecturer and my friends were discussing about God. Sometimes they were debating and arguing against each other. I remember what my lecturer said, we cannot see God, maybe he doesn’t even exist, maybe it’s just people who make it, maybe our prophet were lying. Yes we cannot see God, but for me, something that we cannot see doesn’t mean it does not exist. I believe that God exists, that God is Allah.
However, by joining Humanistic class I realize that I live in this world not only for my religion. As an individual who live among different people, we should respect them also. Many of them have different religion with me and we should respect them. For me, as long as they don’t annoy me by disfiguring my religion I will respect them. Even though we have different faith that doesn’t mean they are bad. There are still many things we can learn from them. I remember what my mother said that I should not take care to make people out there to believe in Islam. Let the God handle the right and the wrong things about Himself, we are Muslim and we are right. I should be a good person even with people who have different faith from me.
I like the discussion about God in Humanistic class and the problems among people. Even still there are many problems that arose. It opens my eyes wider that we cannot solve the religion problem in this world. It’s something that only death can solve it. Regardless of that, in a small society such as family and friends, we should keep respecting each other. At least, we can keep surround us in peace.
Overall, I got many things to learn in Humanistic Class. It makes me want to go deeper my religious because my knowledge is so limited. For the next Humanistic class, I think that we only focus on one thing, religion or minority. It’s because there are still many things that haven’t been discussed in the class. There are still many things I want to know how to deal with minority and those ethnic groups, such as saman and so on. What happen with them and what can I do for them, the lecturer didn’t give much time to do discussion.
For the conclusion, infinity exists because of the limitations. And limitations, it is implanted by God in the human brain. From that humans will never know where the limits of this universe. Something finite certainly would not be able to measure something that is not unlimited (Abu Nawas)
